TRAVEL LOG

We are in the middle of the temple's shut down for cleaning and repairs.  We get two weeks off every six months.  The first two day off the temple president took all the Temple Missionaries that wanted to go to the east coast.  There were 19 of us.  We went in two vans.  It was about a 4 and a half hour drive.  When we got there they had a whole bunch of stops planned almost more than we could get in one day.  We saw a bunch of Buddhist temples, visited the coast in a couple of places, went up to a high mountain where they had a tram that went up to the mountain top, however, because it was a national holiday and there was thousands of people there we did not go up in the tram.  There was a 3 hour wait to get on.  Towards the end of the day we visited a fish market on the coast. Lots of live fish in tanks and others as well.  The group bought fish and had it cut in small pieces and they had raw fish for dinner that evening.  Thank goodness one of the sisters had made some ham sandwiches, so we had ham sandwiches for dinner and for breakfast the next morning.  What fish they didn’t eat they made fish soup out of for breakfast.  We stayed in condos that night, the woman in one and the men in another.  The next day we went to a ski resort where the 2018 Olympics are suppose to be held.  We also saw several more Buddhist temples and visited a market, kind of like a flea market in the states.  We got back to Seoul that night about 8 pm. 

The next two days we spent on a city tour of Seoul, museums, ancient palaces and Seoul tower which sits on the top of the tallest hill in the area.  We then had a couple of days off in which we did laundry, cleaned and listened & watched Conference.  On Mon. we went with the Pecks down to Su Won to a Korean folk village.  That trip took the whole day.  We traveled by subway and train for an hour and by bus another hour.  It was a slow and more enjoyable day. 

We now are getting anxious to go back to work at the temple.  The weather here is much like Utah’s; it is starting to cool off now which is welcome.  It has been pretty warm so far. 

We are very much enjoying our mission; we live in a nice little apartment, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and a small living room with good air-conditioning and heating.  We can walk to all kinds of good shopping places and Seoul has a really good subway and bus system to get around on.  We mostly use the subway system.   We have posted more pictures on our blog so go there and take a look.
