 DECEMBER 2011

These past 5 months have gone quickly.  A third of our Mission will soon be over.  We attend Church at the Seoul English Branch of the Military District.  We meet in a large 4 story building.  The chapel & cultural hall are about the same size as the Stake Center.  Not only is the building large but there are about half again as many members as there are in the Elk Grove Park Ward.  There are at least 20 different nationalities attending. Some travel great distances to attend church each Sun.  One single Bro. travels 4 hours each way. He is there every Sun.  We had a Jewish convert speak a couple weeks ago.  One week we had 3 speakers, one from Jamaica, one from the Philippines and one from India, all converts.  There are lots of Teachers and Military families.  I counted 65 children when the Primary sang.  We enjoy being able to communicate with the members on Sunday.

Our missionary service is basically serving in the Temple 8-10 hours, Tues. thru Sat.  We have been blest to be able to learn most of the ordinances in Korean. We have 6 couples and 4 single sisters serving as Temple Missionaries (We are the only ones who are not Korean.)  We live in a 9 unit apartment complex, just 65 steps from the Temple’s front door.  That is very convenient especially now it is sooo cold. We are amazed at the dedication of many of the Korean Saints.   Sister Kwan has been serving as an ordinance worker every day from 9-5 for 11 years.  On Sat. The Temple doors are opened at 3:30 am and ordinances begin at 4:00 am.  We get bus loads from 4-5 hours away coming to do the work and be in the Temple.  We also have the opportunity to serve Russian Missionaries who have to come to Seoul to renew their Visa’s every 90 days.

Margot tore the meniscus in her left knee resulting in arthroscopic surgery Oct. 16th.  She is doing well and is back to a full schedule at the Temple.

We Love Our Mission.  It is great spending our days serving the Lord.  We highly recommend it.  Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. May you feel our Savior’s love and know the Gospel Is True!

  1. Its always fun to hear about people so dedicated to getting to the temple. We have so many temples so close here in SLC that its easy to forget how much many people have to travel.
